Wafco Mills is a historic cotton mill that was converted into housing located near downtown Greensboro, NC. I was hired by Wafco Mills HOA to create a new face for their online presence with more features and usability for residents and an updated/modern vibe to entice potential new residents and bring the community into the 21st century.

Website Goals
Wafco Mills HOA reached out to me to help modernize their online presence, develop new branding and increase resident awareness of the happenings and notices for their community. Since the HOA board is completely self-managed on a volunteer basis, we wanted to give residents access to self-service options and answers to common questions to decrease the work-load of the volunteers who keep things running.
Self-Service Offerings for Property Owners
In order to save on HOA administrative costs and deliver a better experience for residents, Wafco Mills opted to self-manage, however because their HOA board is completely on a volunteer basis, they wanted one of the main goals for their new website to be adding more self-service options and answers to frequently asked questions.
Digital Record of HOA Board Meetings
The HOA expressed to me that they wanted residents to be more informed about any new changes, and updates regarding their homes. This included meeting minutes and records that are taken during each of the HOA board meetings. Some of these areas of the site require login to view.
Wafco Mills is a historic property in Greensboro, and has a lot of cool documents and photos that the board wanted to feature on their website so that residents and anyone interested could see and appreciate the history of this property.
New owners and their real estate agents also tend to have a lot of questions pertaining to the history of the property, so we included many of the frequently asked for documents and answers to common questions on these pages.

News & Notices
Going along with the theme of wishing for a more informed resident population, we also created two separate areas where residents can get up to date on the news and happenings around Wafco Mills, including new renovations, updates and parking changes.
Tenants (who are not property owners) have their own news feed that focuses on only news and updates for residents, whereas property owners have their own, password-protected area that features news and updates specifically for owners.
Search Rankings & SEO
Wafco Mills HOA has not hired me to do SEO or any ongoing optimizing for their website as the primary goal was to provide resources to their existing residents and owners. They aren’t trying to sell any products or market heavily to potential buyers, so SEO and ongoing maintenance were not a priority. I currently am doing technical support for them and assisting as needed with any updates. This snapshot of the clicks and impressions for the last 90 days reflects that.
