Meet Ivy Ham

Clinical Herbalist · Fiber Artist · Website Designer · Health Freedom Activist

Welcome to Ivy Herbal, where traditional wisdom meets a modern lens. This is a small, independent corner of the web built around three things I love: writing deeply researched articles on holistic health, making herbal and handcrafted goods by hand, and helping fellow small business owners build websites they are proud of.

Whether you are here to read, to shop, or to get help with your own site, I am glad you found your way here.

My Story

I come from a long line of believers in natural and holistic medicine. Despite this, as a teenager I decided to pursue Western medicine to address my health concerns. During that time I struggled with a number of gastrointestinal problems and hormonal imbalances, and I was unable to make meaningful progress in healing from a traumatic brain injury I sustained in 2014.

Frustrated with the high cost, the lack of progress, and the absence of real relief, I began to explore other approaches to healing. That search led me to a Chinese acupuncturist and herbalist in Portland, Oregon. After just a few months of acupuncture, a macrobiotic diet, and herbal supplements, I finally experienced a significant improvement in my gut health and hormonal balance.

Inspired by how much those treatments changed my own life, I became determined to understand them deeply. I spent years researching herbs and supplements on my own, and eventually enrolled in a clinical herbalism program to formalize that knowledge.

These days I channel everything I have learned into three places: the articles I write, the goods I make by hand, and the websites I build for other small businesses. Rather than one-on-one work, my focus now is on sharing knowledge openly and creating things that support your own healing journey, on your own terms.

What You'll Find Here

The Blog

Deep-dive, evidence-based articles that look at health through a modern, pharma-skeptical lens. I write about everything from herbs and nutrition to environmental toxins, vaccine trial design, and holistic pet care, always linking back to primary sources so you can read the research yourself.

The Shop

Handmade and herbalist-formulated goods in small batches: tea blends, salves and balms, grass-fed tallow skincare, plus fiber art and apparel like upcycled quilt jackets and hand-knit pieces. You will also find digital goods, including my self-paced online courses.

Website Design & Help

I am a small, non-corporate web designer who builds and revamps sites for small businesses. I can design from scratch, refresh an existing site, improve your SEO, troubleshoot a specific problem, or train you to confidently manage your own website.

My Philosophy

Meeting You Where You're At

Health is never one-size-fits-all. My goal is to share information and tools in a way that meets you where you are, honoring your body's innate ability to heal and treating you as a whole person rather than a label or a diagnosis.

Health Sovereignty

Everything here is built around your education and autonomy so you can make fully informed choices. Knowledge about your own health is a birthright, and my role is simply to help you fill in the gaps and think critically for yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I stay updated on Ivy's latest articles and offerings?

The best way is to join the newsletter using the sign-up form at the bottom of the page. I only email once or twice a month. You can also follow along on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and X.

Do you sell herbs in bulk?

Not at this time. You can use my affiliate link to shop from Mountain Rose Herbs. Using my link is free and helps cover the cost of running this website.

I want to start learning herbal medicine. Where should I begin?

Start by reading. Many of the most seasoned herbalists have documented their work in books, and that is the best foundation you can build. Self-healing knowledge should be available to everyone, as a birthright.

Can you build or help with my website?

Yes. I design and revamp websites for small businesses, help with SEO, offer technical support, and train people to manage their own sites. Take a look at my web design portfolio and reach out through the contact page for a quote.

What is Ivy's stance on vaccines?

I am always for full informed consent and bodily autonomy, meaning the person receiving any treatment is fully aware of its potential risks, benefits, and side effects. I am happy to point you toward informational resources so you can fill in any gaps left by your medical provider and make the decision that is right for you.
