The Montana Organic Vegetable Expo is put on by MSU's Western Agricultural Research Center and the Ravalli County Economic Development Authority's Food and Ag Development Center. It is built for vegetable growers, from a single market garden to a commercial operation.
Past sessions covered organic weed management, soil health, cover cropping for specific nutrients, high tunnel design, produce safety, pest management, and managing farm employees. Keynotes have come from working organic farmers and university researchers, and locally sourced meals are part of the program.
The first expo drew more than 90 growers from the Bitterroot, Missoula, Kalispell, Bozeman, and Twin Bridges. It is one of the better places in western Montana to meet other growers and find organic input suppliers.
