About Ivy

Hi, I'm Ivy Ham, a certified clinical herbalist based in Missoula, Montana. My own health history brought me here, through years of digestive trouble, hormone shifts, and a long recovery from a traumatic brain injury that showed me how confusing the search for answers can be. Clinical herbalism gave me a framework that helped, and I trained formally so I could offer it to others.

When you work with me, we start with your story, reviewing your health history, diet, lifestyle, and goals before I build an individualized plan drawing on Western, Ayurvedic, and Chinese herbal traditions, peer-reviewed research, and functional nutrition. I work alongside your healthcare providers, and I ask every client to keep their doctor informed about the herbs and supplements they take.

What happens in an herbal consultation? An herbal consultation is a one-on-one conversation about your health history, diet, and goals. Ivy reviews your intake form, discusses your current medications and supplements, and sends a written summary within 24 hours, with individualized herbal and nutrition suggestions you can review with your healthcare provider.

Ivy is a certified clinical herbalist, not a licensed physician. Consultations are educational and supportive in nature and do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please consult a qualified healthcare provider before changing any treatment plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I prepare for my first consultation?

Fill out the intake form and email it to hello@ivyherbal.com with your name in the subject line, as soon as you can after booking. Knowing your health history and current supplements before we meet lets us have an informed and productive discussion.

How do I pay for my appointment?

Payment runs through Stripe, which accepts all major debit and credit cards, and is due at the time of the appointment. Pay here for your Initial Consultation ($150) or Follow-Up Appointment ($95), or use the link in your confirmation email.

Are you available for in-person appointments?

No, all consultations are currently held remotely.

Can I buy herbs from you directly?

Yes, I can supply herbs I have on hand, order them for you, or recommend reliable, sustainable, and organic sources, so let me know your preference at your appointment. If you are just looking to purchase herbs or tea blends, visit my shop or reach out about a custom blend. Shipping is available anywhere in the USA.

Are there risks or side effects with herbs?

Yes, any herb, supplement, or lifestyle change carries some risk of side effects, and no single approach works for everyone. Herbs contain many of the same active constituents found in prescription drugs and can interact with medications and existing conditions. This is why I review your full medication list before suggesting anything, and why I encourage every client to stay connected with their primary care provider.

Can herbal medicine be used alongside conventional medicine?

In many cases it can, and checking for interactions is one of the main reasons clients book with me before starting a new herb. Bring a current list of your medications to your appointment and keep your prescriber informed of anything you add.

What is herbalism?

Herbalism is the study and use of plants to support health. My practice draws on Western herbalism, Ayurveda, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, combined with functional nutrition and current research.

Do you take health insurance?

No, I am not able to accept insurance of any kind.

What is the cancellation policy?

Life happens, and appointments can be rescheduled to a more convenient time. Please give as much notice as you can. Repeated missed appointments may incur a fee.
